Zbrush Mesh Insert Brush Repository

Crazy number of mesh insert brushes http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?170167-Insert-Multi-Mesh-Repository As per the site and forums: / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /   I N S T R U C T I O N S ! ! !  \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Due to the need for some instructions on how to use modify and install these brushes here oddly enough are some instructions. To install a brush so that it is in the Brush Pallet when you start up ZBrush you need to place it in your Brush Presets directory in your main Zbrush directory For example on the PC running Windows 7 I place them here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4R4\ZStartup\BrushPresets\ If someone will let me know where that is on the Macintosh I will include it here. Ok, now to modify these brushes there are a couple of things to consider and I will start with Cxyda's leather strap brushes because they are a perfect example. You will find them in the next post down from this on...

A note on anatomy

Image
Took some time to rework the anatomy of the Ji so they can walk on all fours more naturally.  My original concept had more "proportional" legs, but they looked wrong and didn't work for posing and animation tests. After looking at the anatomy of numerous animals in the fossil record (including gorillas and other "semi-bipedal" animals like chimps, some lizards, and certain species of dinosaurs), I opted to scale down the legs and feet of the broodlings, while elongating the torso slightly and changing the alignment of the shoulders. The Broodling on the left is the concept before reworking the anatomy.  The right is adjusted based on research. Cleared the problem right up.

A study in topography

Image
Topography is essential for mapping textures, projection maps, and as a framework for building sculpts and materials. Topology, especially face topology, should always be smooth and uniform in distribution and scale.  Scaling should happen evenly when polys are required to shrink (corners of the mouth, around orifices, etc) The following presents a few examples of how topology works in the races of Status Quo for a cleaner character design, optimized for future use for game textures. All models except Humans by Cheshire.  Human male and female provided by CGCookie (CC-BY)  Human Female basemesh by CGCookies   Human Male basemesh by CGCookies _____ These base meshes can be subdivided from between 7,000 - 9,000 polys to upwards of 2-5 million for sculpting and color mapping for later projection.  Keeping lower subdivisions intact is important for aligning UVs later to project high poly texture information...

Miffed Kitty Press

Image
Contributed by: Cheshire Someone once asked me where I had gotten the name "Miffed Kitty Press". I asked, "Do you really wanna know?" After some assurance that they wouldn't think less of me, I explained the following, as simply and bluntly as possible: My name is Cheshire, and the world seems to like me better when I'm angry.  No matter how nice I am to people, every single day I'm reminded of how others will judge you for your interests, because they're different; hate on you for your talents, because they have none; and try their best to convince you that what you want to accomplish is impossible, because it's too big or too original, or because they have never had an original thought in their life and your's frightens them.  Very few people are encouraging or supportive (not even your family), and fewer still support you by giving direct help to overcome one of the endless hurdles you'll have to face to make your dream a...

Build yer own Data-Share

As noted by: Black Page We have two scenarios for the sFTP. Hosted at one of our places, or hosted online. Self Hosted ($459 [or $900 with server] with an annual renewal of $80. Local bandwidth consumption would be volatile) Server (old hardware allocated, new server hardware would be about $450 for base server) Software ($379 , you have to have an OS) Domain ($11 annually) Certificate ($69 annualy) Local bandwidth being consumed, possibly rising costs Service Hosted (using www.exavault.com as the case study) Variable by space requirements 5GB $118 annually or $11 per month 25GB $256 annually or $23 per month 50GB $378 annually or $35 per month 100GB $621 annually or $58 per month

Starting the tech blog & Introduction

So, I've been told to create a tech blog. As a video game designer running my own project, I plan to use this blog for notes, new stuff, and things that may help future project members.
